The Cocabanana Band fills the gap between Jimmy Buffet and West Indy Caribbean music.
No Reggae here... just some really entertaining lyrics and a big time party on stage which is contagious and soon takes over the whole room.
This band has serious musicians who gave a lot of thought to their unique genre.

Their CD should be in any sun-drenched music collection.

They flawlessly perform songs other bands wouldn't even attempt
All while enjoying their work.
The Cocabanana Band keeps reinventing Caribbean Rock much like Dylan toyed with folk music. Their originals rival their better known covers.
What band out there now can do One Particular Harbour,Turn Turn, and Toes in one set without adding members?
The continue to raise the bar for Buffet cover bands and blow away their Carib Rock wannabe ensembles.
Just listened to the CD...Congratulations! What an enjoyable album
that is. ... the songs are strong, the production is excellent, the players are great...overall, a really, really, really good CD.
I hope you sell a million of them.
Mike
Dear Cocabanana Band,
The ALLY Foundation's third annual Flip Flop Regatta has now come and gone. I wanted to write a final note of thanks to you for your contribution and commitment to this event.
We had over 600 people attend the Mt Gay tent festivities.....Once again the post-event buzz regarding the race and tent parties has been truly fantastic. Thanks to you this event will continue to be the premier summer event in Boston Harbor.....
That's all for now. It's been a pleasure chairing the event, and again, thank you so much for your help!
It was great to work with you! You guys were awesome!! You made the whole day!
The Cocabannana Band is one of the best bands I have ever worked with! They are fun, terrifically talented and couldn't have been more accommodating! I would highly recommend them to anyone looking to have a great time at their party or event!

John -
Just a short note to say THANK YOU for putting your CD sales in the
Red Cross charity.
In the end, it raised a total of $165,060 over the last 7 weeks, sent
directly to the Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund through our local
Portland Oregon branch.

(You should have seen their faces when we brought in that very first
check, in person, for $113,000!)

We quietly brought the special program to a close last night after
sending the last check, so we will go back to sending the entire
amount of your sales directly to you. Obviously, you can choose to
send the money wherever you want, if you wanted to keep donating your
income to charity. It's just that we can't do it for you anymore.

Thanks again.

The Dover Parks and Recreation Commission hired the Cocabanana Band for the first time this past summer for its concert on the common series.. One of the best bookings I ever made. The band was outstanding, keeping the audience involved with great music and personality. The band and audience were so into it, I had to tell the band to stop as we were about to run out of daylight. I would highly recommend them to anyone.

The Cocabanana Band put on a fantastic show for Claflin Hill's Family Night at the Bandstand in Milford during our 2005 Summer Season.
The band was energetic, engaging and sounded fabulous. The audience loved them. Kids, moms and dads, even grandparents were up on their feet dancing and singing along to the music.
On behalf of Claflin Hill, we were very pleased with the show and look forward to many more years of concerts in the park.
It's not everyday that you come upon a group of such talented and season professional musicians who are willing and able to create such an awesome show for the community. The Cocabanana Band held nothing back. A great group!
Bernadette Stockwell - Outdoor concert (Jul 24, 2005)
Thank you to the Cocabanana Band for stepping up at the Hopkinton Town Common Concert to raise money for the victims of Hurricane Katrina. The show was a big hit.
We raised a lot of money and had fun in the process. We hope that Cocabanana will come back to play in the Summer for our regular Concerts on the Common Series and be paid for the effort they put into the music they play.
Best Regards,

What the Media is Saying about the Perfect Storm CD

Readers Choice Awards: John Burrows Best Folk Act 2001
Runner Up: John Burrows Best Solo Act 2001 Phoenix newspapers

“The Perfect Storm (Profile) is a well crafted collection mixing country folk and Caribbean sounds. Burrows approached songwriting in the same fashion movie producers Alex Cox (Sid and Nancy) or Oliver Stone (JFK) create a script--he immersed himself in the subject matter, trying to interpret what those aboard were feeling during their demise. ‘I wanted the lyrics to be true and give a graphic portrayal’ ”.
BG August 11/2000 The Worcester Phoenix

“The title song tying into the (upcoming) film carries some solid storytelling Local singer-songwriter Burrows has a knack, in the Lightfoot vein of putting stories to song and the epic “Tombstone Arizona 1881” is one of his best. He also gets into out and out country, some of it sweet, some of it rip-snortin’ and can be tender and scathing (in different songs) on the subject of love gone wrong” Ed Symkus Metro West Daily News

“Burrows is comfortably suited to all musical genres with his easy going vocal work and fine string work (which includes pedal steel). He also has an uncanny knack for songwriting in any form as eleven of these songs are original. Well crafted and pristinely recorded, Burrows is accompanied by a huge cast of musician friends. Their collective efforts make The Perfect Storm one of the best local releases of the year.”

In this genre this band is supreme. They sing and play like the pros they are.
There simply is no competition in the trop rock genre.

They must like the view from the top as they keep showing their veratility by learning songs no otherlive band would dare do. They perfom flawlessly on The Orleans cover "Dance With Me" turns ears and heads on the Byrds "Turn Turn Turn" and out Chesney, Kenny on When the Sun Goes Down.
If they come withon a 100 mles of your home GO SEE THEM you will be singing for days afterward.
